Volker Brendel - TeachingMy classroom teaching currently is limited to the Bioinformatics II. Advanced Genome Informatics course, offered each Spring semester. The graduate students in our research group generally participate in either the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology or Interdepartmental Genetics graduate programs. We accept a small number of students each Spring semester from each program to do rotation projects with us, and we typically offer undergraduate research experiences throughout the year and in special programs in the summer. Students interested in these latter two opportunities should fill out applications on our Openings web page. Potential graduate students interested in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology or Interdepartmental Genetics graduate programs will find application information on the program web pages. My teaching philosophy emphasizes integration of research and textbook learning and interdisciplinary study. I am currently also serving on the International Faculty of the International Graduate School in Bioinformatics and Genome Research conducted at the Center of Biotechnology, University of Bielefeld, Germany. |
